ABSTRACT

Wa Ode Siti Asramia (A1C2 13 058) "Effect of Various Types of Organic Mulch on Growth and Yield of Pepper Plants". The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of organic mulch treatment on the growth and yield of pepper (Capsicum frutescens Linn.) and find out the types of organic mulch which gave the best influence on the growth and yield of pepper plant (Capsicum frutescens Linn.). This research was carried out in the Biology unit of Education Laboratory area, Teaching and Education Faculty, Halu Oleo University from January to May 2018. The research method used the experimental method and used a completely randomized design (CRD), with 4 treatments and 1 control repeated 5 times. The variables in this study consisted of a free variable (X), namely the treatment of various types of organic mulch (husk mulch, straw, elephant grass, and dried banana leaves), and controls. Dependent variable (Y) is vegetative growth and yeald of pepper plants. The results of analysis of variance (ANOVA) obtained by Fcount> Ftable, wich means husks, straw, elephant grass and banana leaves organic mulch showed a significantly different to control. The results showed that descriptively husk and straw mulch had a higher average on plant height indicators with a mean of 21,9 cm and 21,8 cm. Banana leaf mulch has the highest average of the leaf number indicator of 14,7. Elephant grass mulch has a higher average on average crop production, with an average of 11,31 grams.
