This study aims at analyzing Donald Trump’s speech in term of social cognition. The problem concerns on how is Social Cognition in Donald Trump’s speech about Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Teun A. Van Dijk’s theory of Critical Discourse analysis is used to explain the material object. The objective of this study is to describe how is social cognition in Donald Trump’s speech about Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. It will be useful for us to know and learn about this topic, because the speech is the controversy in the world. This research used qualitative method to analyze the data. The sources of data in this study are Donald Trump’s speech about Jerusalem as the capital of Israel full video and transcript, the duration of Donald Trump’s speech during twelve minutes in White House, Washington DC, at Wednesday, December 6, 2017 afternoon time in United States, and biography of Donald Trump. The data were collected through process of watching, reading, pausing and capturing, noting the data, and coding for classification the data. And then, the writer analyzed those data by using the theory of Critical Discourse Analysis in Social Cognition aspect by Teun A. Van Dijk. The result of analysis is found that Social Cognition in Donald Trump’s speech are success like, models, context models, social knowledge, social attitudes, ideologies, and strategies. Most of the comment on that content in Donald Trump’s speech used social cognition to attack the personality or behavior and the ethnic origin especially the religion.
