ABSTRAK
ERAWATI Department of Communication Science Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, register number C1D1 14 011 under the title of with title thesis Semiotic Analysis Cover Story Day Of Aids In The Kendari Daily Post, under the guidance of Mr. Muhammad Zein Abdullah, M.Si as First Counselor and Ms. Sutiyana Fachruddin, S.Sos., M.I.Kom as Supervisor II.
The purpose of this research is to know the meaning of message illustration Cover Story Day Of Aids In The Kendari Daily Post, in semiotic theory. The benefits of this research are theoretically; can add insight and knowledge about the meaning of semiotics in Visual Communication Design, Methodologically; can be an information review material for those who next do the same research in the future, and practitioners; can provide input to the Kendari Post story cover plan team, especially for cartoonists and layouts in conveying messages through caricatures as well as layout of other design elements to be easily understood by their imagination.
The location of this study was conducted at PT. Media Kita Sejahtera or commonly known Daily Kendari Post. The theory used is Triangle Meaning or Triangle Meaning by Charles Sanders Peirce (Vera, 2014: 21). With 4 person informants ie 1 managing editor, 1 cartoonist, 1 person layouter dandan 1 person activist as well as design lecturer.
The results of this study indicate that the meaning of illustrated media messages in Cover Story Day Aids edition of December 1, 2016 on Daily Kendari Post which consists of sign, object, and interpretant containing illustrations containing elements of warning or reprimand against the news of Aids anniversary happening in the area of Southeast Sulawesi .
