SRI AYUDIANI AZZAHRA (A1D213102), Students’ Perception on the Use of Instagram in Writing Practice
Instagram is one of the social network sites that have many users. Using Instagram in writing provides a new learning environment for students to practicing their writing ability. Instagram seems to provide an ideal environment for L2 learners to produce descriptive writing. Therefore, the present study entitled “Students’ Perception on the Use of Instagram in writing practice” tried to find out students’ perception towards Instagram as a technique that use in practicing writing. In this the researcher applied descriptive qualitative design. The participants of this study are the students who involved in the Writing 1 A and B class of English Department, Halu Oleo University. The total population was 108 students which divided into two classes, class A and class B. Class A consists of 54 students, while class B consists of 54 students. Instrument of this study is questionnaire consisted of close-ended and open-ended questionnaires. The result shows that students have positive perception towards the use of Instagram in writing practice since 89% of students stated positively in terms of Perceived Easy of Use aspect, 79% students stated positively in terms of Perceived Usefulness aspect and 83% students stated positively in terms of User Acceptance aspect of the close-ended questionnaire. Besides that the result also found that the advantages of using Instagram in writing practice for students are: ease of use, can be used anytime and anywhere, got feedback from lecturer or students, increase students’ confidence, and the disadvantages of using Instagram are: less of facilities and ability of network, limitation of Instagram features, and students become coward.
