In this study, the writer focus on a taboo words in Wakatobi languages of Tomia dialect. The writer hopes that this study gives contributions toward in sociolinguistic study, especially in taboo. It is also expected of this study becomes a consideration toward the people or society. In this study the writer used analysis descriptive qualitative design in which the data were taken from an interview with different people. The writer found 32 data that included in taboo. After identiying the classification of taboo the data were presented and examined and answered the problem of this study. The writer explained the meaning of taboo using pragmatic approach of discourse. The meaning of taboo it has been trusted for generations by the local people. The surrounding community chose to avoid the taboo in order not to bring bad things. The context for using taboo language in Tomia dialect occurs in context, (1) speaker and listener, (2) background or place of conversation, (3) time of conversation, (4) topic or event discussed, (5) atmosphere or situation of conversation , and (6) the purpose or purpose of the conversation. The Tomia dialect sometimes uses a form of euphemism to replace the taboo language of words.
