Mola is known as kampong Bajo where the majority of the citizens who live in that village are Bajo people, which had designated as one of World Tourist Destination Areas in WakatobiArchipelago. The study aims at investigating how Bajo students’ motivation and self-confidence are in learning English to the existenceof Mola as tourist destination area. The research is done qualitatively using observation, questionnaire, and interview. The observation consists of two observations aiming to investigate the tourism site and to visit and ask for permission from school. The questionnaire aims to check the students’ level of motivation and confidence. The interview becomes the primary data of this research because it aims to investigate the students’ reasons to be motivated and confident. The subject of this research is 32 students of Bajo tribe in Mola. 17 students who have motivated and confident, five students feel motivated but less confident, two students feel confident but lack of motivation, and eight students have not neither motivated nor self-confidence to learn English. After interpreting the instruments, the result indicates that most of the students are motivated and confident because of the existence of Mola as one of tourist destination areas in Wakatobi. They see this phenomenon as promising opportunity to prepare them to be tour guide, to open an English course, to meet and talk to the foreigners, and to introduce the local culture like dance and typical food of Mola. However, some students are not confident enough even they know that they will meet foreigners because they think their English is not good enough.
