THE EFFECT OF USING BLACKBOARD DRAWING TECHNIQUE ON STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT AT THE SEVENTH GRADE OF SMP NEGERI 17 KENDARI

This study is conducted to find out whether there is any significant effect of using Blackboard drawing technique on students’ vocabulary achievements at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Kendari.This research uses quasi experimental design with population isall seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 17 Kendari. The samples of this research are class VII5consist of 29 students as the experimental group and VII3consist of 30 students as control group. The research instrument is 40 questions of vocabulary test. To collect the data, the researcher gives pre-test, teach by using Blackboard drawing technique, and giving post-test. The findings show that students’ mean score in experimental group are 45.69 at pre-test and 71.23 at post-test, while students’ mean score in control group are 48.12 in pre-test and 66.56 in post-test. As the result, the mean score of post-test in experimental group is higher than in control group. Based on the calculation of T-test, it showsthat the score of tcount = 2.974is higher than ttable = 2.002 and the pvalue = 0.004is lower than α= 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected and H1 is accepted. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using blackboard drawing technique on students’ vocabulary achievement at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 17 Kendari. All in all, blackboard drawing technique is recommended to be used by the teacher in teaching and learning process to increase the students’ vocabulary achievement.
