This study is intended to analyze the postmodern narrative in the movie XMen: Days of Future Past by applying the postmodern perspective of Jean Francois Lyotard. Movie XMen: Days of Future Past is basically included in one of many popular movies produced by Marvel Studios with postmodern concepts. The metanarrative as the spirit of modern era often lead the minority into marginalization and discrimination because of the totalizing of hegemony. So, The premise of postmodernism is presented in the middle of this problem to defend the inferior from the superior structure. This study used qualitative-descriptive method in analyzing the data. The data are collected through process of watching, pausing, screen-shooting, noting, and classifying, then interpreting the data. By looking at the postmodern perspective of Jean Francois Lyotard, the researcher found that the Sentinel project in the movie XMen:Days of Future Past is a symbol of oppression which marginalized Mutants as the representation of minority and also as the symbol of irrationality. Then, there are several postmodern aspects appeared as a form of rejection of the metanarrative, such as: (a) Resisting the oppression; (b) The diversity of petitnarrative; and (c) The collapse of the metanarrative construction. Thus, Movie XMen: Days of Future Past presented contradictory phenomenon as an allegory of incredulity towards the meta-worldview.
