ENHANCHING STUDENTS’ SPEAKING AWARENESS THROUGH ONLINE REFLECTIVE LEARNING JOURNAL

Improvement in accuracy during foreign language learning could be developed through awareness. Language awareness especially in speaking skill is one of the important characteristics a foreign language student should possess as it deals with enhanced consciousness of and sensitivity to the forms and functions of language.
This study aims to investigate reflective learning in helping students to enhance their L2 speaking skill awareness, to reveal kinds of L2 speaking strategies the students applied as revealed in their reflections and to find out how students perceive reflective learning as a way for enhancing their L2 speaking skill awareness. The population of this study is all students from 3rd years speaking class at English Language Education Department of IAIN Kendari. The sample of this study is 8 students who are chosen by using simple random sampling. The result of this study showed that students of English Study Program who involved in speaking class generally adopted a very positive perception towards the online reflective journal because the students can increase their second language awareness.
