The formulation of the problem in this study is whether there is an effect of using the Problem Based Learning model on students' intellectual skills on the theme of organ of animal and human movement in class V of SD Negeri 08 Mandonga? The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of using the Problem Based Learning model on students' intellectual skills on the theme of organ movement of animals and humans in class V of SD Negeri 08 Mandonga.
This research is a Quasi Experiment Nonequivalent Control Group. Subjects in this study are students of VB and VC class at SD Negeri 08 Mandonga with a total of 32 VB students and 33 VC students. VB class is an experimental class treated with Problem Based Learning model while VC class is a control class with a model commonly used in class. The variables of this study consisted of independent variables, namely the Problem Based Learning model and the dependent variable namely students' intellectual skills. Data collection is through observation and documentation. The instrument used is an observation sheet. Data analysis techniques used descriptive statistics by comparing the mean scores of the post-test experimental group and the control group.
The results showed that there is an effect of the Problem Based model learning about students' intellectual skills on the theme Animal and Human Motion Organ in grade V SD Negeri 08 Mandonga. This can be seen from the results of the calculation of the average post-test score where the average experimental group is 33 with category A higher than the control group by 29,81 with category B. This shows that the Problem Based model Learning has a positive effect on developing students' intellectual skills because the learning of Problem Based Learning makes students learn critical thinking through problem solving, arguing and providing solutions.
