The Representation Of Nature And Effort Of Protecting Environment Pictured In The “Yogi Bear” Film By Eric Brevig(The Application of Ecocritic Theory)

ABSTRACT
This study analyzed the Yogi Bear Film by Eric Brevig through the eyes of Ecocriticism. The problem concerns on the representation of nature and effort of protecting environment pictured in the Yogi Bear film. Cheryll Glotfelty’s ecocritic theory is used to elaborate the material object. The objective of the study is to analyze the representation of nature and effort of protecting environment pictured in the Yogi Bear film. This research used descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data. The source of data in this study is an American film by Eric Brevig that is titled Yogi Bear which is released in 2010. The data were collected through the process of watching, enlisting, screenshoting and taking the dialogue. The data were analyzed by identifying, classifying and interpreting. The result of this study are (a) Jellystone park is portraying the beautiful landscape of North America (b) the park rangers success protecting the environment (c) They are success to stop the mayor to destruct the forest of Jellystone park by exposing the wicked agenda of the mayor to the people (d) The rare animals are success rescued by the park rangers (e) Yogi and Boo Boo can live in Jellystone park without any threaten from the forest destroyer anymore. After all, Yogi Bear is a critique towards human attitude to nature today. Technology has always been the reason for destructing the nature without thinking the anticipate of its concequences.
