Abstrack

The objective of this research is to know and analyze the sound absorption ability of polyester composite with Styorofoam and paper. Specimens were made with the composition of styorofoam: polyester resin: paper with the following ratio (70:20:10)%, (60%: 30%: 10)%, (50%: 40: 10)%, (70:10:20 (60:10:30)%, and (50:10:40)% with composite specimen treatments before and after water immersion for 1 hour, sound absorption test using sound level meter. The results of this study showed that the highest absorption of sound in the conditions before and after water immersion with volume fraction (50:10:40)% obtained coefficient value of 0.298 dB and 0.308 dB with frequency 2000 Hz and for the lowest absorption coefficient value of 0.190 dB at the volume fraction (70:20:10)% with a frequency of 2000 Hz.
