ABSTRACT
RELATIONS WITH NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF SCHIZOPHRENIA PATIENTS IN MENTAL HOSPITAL SOUTH EAST SULAWESI PROVINCE

Schizophrenia is a neuropsychiatric symptom that is not known for certain causes. There are currently estimated 2.2 million patients living with schizophrenia in the United States, and approximately 300,000 patients admitted to the hospital. To know the cause, its necessary to do the approach from various aspect, one of that is by doing measurement of body mass index to know patient nutrient status. The result of this measurement is needed to know the relation of type of schizophrenia with nutritional status of patient in Mental Hospital of Southeast Sulawesi Province.
This research is analytic observation with cross sectional approach. The sample number of 117 schizophrenic patients was taken by total sampling. The study was conducted at Mental Hospital of Southeast Sulawesi. Primary data include subject characteristics, body weight and sample height. Bivariate analysis was done through chi-square test.
117 respondents, 69 people (65.7%) patients with schizophrenia residual showed good nutritional status, undifferentiated schizophrenia showed 40.0% less nutrition, 50% catatonic schizophrenia, and paranoid schizophrenia nutrient status less as much as 40%.The result of statistical test using chi-square test found P-Value = 0,158> α (0,05) so it can be said that there is no correlation between schizophrenia with nutritional status. This interprets that schizophrenia does not affect the nutritional status of patients in Mental Hospital Southeast Sulawesi.
The results of the research concluded that there was no correlation between the type of schizophrenia with the nutritional status of patients in Mental Hospital Southeast Sulawesi Province.
