ABSTRACT
NIRWANA NISWAR (A1D212025) “The Correlation Between Test Taking Anxiety and EFL Students Test Performance”This study aimed at investigate the degree of students’ test taking anxiety and whether there is any correlation between students’ test taking anxiety and their performance in EFL context or not. Thereby the question derived out is “Is there any correlation between EFL students test taking anxiety and their performance?. The Number of sample in this study were 47 students from department of english education of Halu Oleo University 2014 academic year in Translation class. The Data collected through questionnaire adopted from Benson and Bandolos (1992). The questionnaire consist of 20 items that investigated students anxiety when taking a test. Another instrument was students’ final exam score collected from their lecturers’ assesment in Translation course. Researcer used purposive sampling technique in taking the sample. The data of this study was analyzed use spss 16. The result show that the pearson correlation is -0.333 and categorized as low correlation. The result show that there is negative correlation between the two variables. Moreover the data shows that the correlation between these two variables were low. The conclusion of this study is Students who are categorized to have a high and medium level of anxiety show a low performance in undergoing test. And for students who are categorized to have low level of anxiety show a good possibility to perform a well going test. Moreover, the correlation can be interpreted that if the students test taking anxiety are high, then the students test performance are low.
