THE CORRELATION BETWEEN EMOTIONAL QUOTIENT AND STUDENTS ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT AT THIRD SEMESTER STUDENTS IN ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF HALU OLEO UNIVERSITY

The major aim of this research was to examine the correlation between students’ Emotional Quotient and students’ English Achievement at third student’s semester in English Education Department. The objective of the research is to answer the following research questions: Is there any significant correlation between EQ and Students English Achievement of third semester students at English Education Department? For this purpose, 132 students of third semester were chosen from English Education Department at Halu Oleo University. The research is a correlation study, which employed quantitative research methods. The data were collected from 132 respondents and the data collection was carried out by using an emotional quotient questionnaire and students’ English result (from Integrated Intensive Course in semester 1). In order to answer the research question above, descriptive statistics and Pearson Product moment are run. The finding of this research is there is positive correlation between Emotional Quotient and students’ English Achievement.
