<note>ABSTRACT
Risna, C1D1 14 073 with the title of the study was preference of Wearing Veil as a symbol of communication ( A Case Study at Journalism Students FISIP UHO ). (Guided by Dr. Zulfiah Larisu, S,Sos., M.Si as Mentor I and Harnina Ridwan, S.IP., M.Si, as Mentor II).
This study tried to know and analyze preference of wearing veil as a symbol of communication at Journalism Students FISIP UHO. The type of this study was descriptive qualitative research, which aimed to describe systematically, accurate about the nature and relationship of the phenomenon investigated. The subjects of this study were journalism students who wore veil consisted of 16 students. The data collected by observation, interviewing and documentation. Data analysis technique were collecting data, reducing data, presenting data and verification data. 
The result of the study showed that preference of wearing veil as a symbol of communication at Journalism Students FISIP UHO was the context included individual and group, intermediary included traditional media and new media, the process included interaction and development, character included language and treatment. Generally, the most of journalism students chose wearing veil for some reasons and different backgrounds such as Islamic law, self-will, environment, parents, trend fashion and media effects.
